If you’re going to build a clone of the Doane Spencer Deuce, one of the most highly praised 1932 Ford hot rod roadsters (and the car that won the first hot rod class at Pebble Beach back in 1997), you better get your ducks in a row, and it appears the builder of this 1932 Ford roadster Doane Spencer clone for sale on Hemmings.com did – it includes the Schroeder steering box, the DuVall windshield, and all sorts of other hard-to-find goodies that reveal the builder’s dedication to the project. From the seller’s description:
The car has a custom built chassis, with model A perches, the rear Chassis has been raised 7″, the front end has been narrowed 2″. Chassis has also been Z cut 2 3/4”; original x members, chassis has been boxed in. Has Friction shocks which are set inside the frame. Has original 32 I-beam axle. Rear axle housing is an original 1939 with Cyclone Quick Change. Equipped with Bendix brakes front and rear. Has Coker tires; rear tires are 7.50/16 front 5.00/5.25-16 mounted on steel rims.
Custom-made removable nerf bar, original BLC headlight buckets. Custom-made hair-pin steering arm, Gordon Schroeder Steering Box, original spoon gas pedal, clutch pedal and brake pedal. Stuart Warner Bat-Wing gauges, DuVall Windshield Frame. Also has original ’32 firewall.
Interior is all custom, with tan leather seats and door panels.
Transmission is an original 1939 3-Speed
Engine is a 1948 Merc, ’59 A block, flat-head V8, 4” steel crank, full MSD ignition, JR 400 cam, small- block Chevy valves; block has been relieved! Cyclone heads and intake manifold, 97 Stomberg Carbs, ceramic-coated headers with Smitty mufflers equipped with functional side pipes. Our fuel cell is a Mooney cell mounted in trunk.
